Naniboujou Lodge painting

In early September I was invited by my mother to attend her monthly girls day. her and her friends do some fun middle aged women activity which usually involves crafts and complaining about how no one does anything around the house. Anyways I had the privilege to DD for these lovely ladies and organized to go for a hike in Grand Marais.

For lunch we stopped at the Nanabijou Lodge. I went down to check out the lake before I sat down inside. And when I realized I was probably holding everyone up from ordering I ran inside and say down. When I was looking at my menu I took a short moment where I glanced at my mom and then I noticed how detailed the the wall was and how it climbed all the way up to the roof. It was spectacular.

I was so mesmerized by this that I knew I had to paint it since I love colours.

I knew all along I wanted it to look abstract and imperfect. And I absolutely love it. I love the colours and how you can still the image.

Photography Phase

A few weeks ago my art teacher influenced me to take my own photos instead of finding photos online or in a book. I didn't like that idea since I was crappy at takin pictures, until one day my dog Bently (golden retriever) was just sitting outside all peaceful and it had just rained so everything was dark and contrasty. I wanted a perfect image of this and I knew my phone couldn't do the job. So I grabbed my sisters old camera, not the best but I thought I would give it a try.

I was quite satisfied with this picture so I put on some boots and search for more things to snap pictures of.

I was intrigued by how well the pictures were turning out that I wanted to try it out on something else, a model. So I asked Kylie who had been in modeling classes and seemed like she would be easy to work with. So during class we went out into the back of the school (Serena tagged along)

I was totally happy with these photos, I was getting very into my new phase and my determination just started taking off! The next day my friend Jenn and I were going to Thunder Bay and she asked if we could take a few shots down at the Marina, and I thought it was a great idea.
(My favourite one)
Then another friend asked the next day, so we went down the back roads of Dorion.

Then my brother (Fall lake and Dorion Pinnacles)

The best part about this is how happy I have been making people and how happy it's been making me feel. And more people have been askin me to take pictures of them which makes me so thrilled!

Card for minister of education!

After I was asked to paint a card for the minister of education, I was determined to go out and find the perfect photo to capture that best represents Northern Ontario. My parents and I then set out on an adventure into the back roads of Dorion and we came across this beautiful lake called fall lake. We were able to kayak to the end of the lake until we reached this trail, that strangely enough led us to another lake, called Minor lake At this lake was a little green boat, which was set their as a generous gift to all who wanted to enjoy the lake. We paddled across this small lake, and when we reached the end their was an old deep tunnel that Used to be a mine shaft many years before. (Hence the name Minor Lake) on our way back as we rowed in the little green boat, we sipped on tea and coconut energy bars (my favourite) I snapped many pics on this little voyage but this is the one that stuck out the most.

This photo really makes me feel at home, and that's the feeling I wanted to share with the Minister of Education.

I was truly honored to have been chosen to hand this gift to the Minister.
