Slovakia women feeding her livestock

I was really excited about painting this picture! When I first was flipping through the National Geographic magazine I saw this picture an when I looked at it , it made me really happy. At first I was just going to go ahead and paint it without pre planning or sketching , but I wanted a more detailed look to it, almost similar to the image but not quite. So I spent some time sketching it out first which I think really helped because I could easily see where everything was suppose to be.

So far this is my favourite painting I've done this semester, I was very happy with the finishing product for once!

Contemporary Vs. Traditional

J.R.
Claude Monet

I picked these two artists because first of all there style is emensly  different, and same with their perspective. I really enjoy traditional art especially Van Gough and Monet, but after reading a little more about J.R. I started to develope an interest in his story.

First attempt:
Second Attempt:

During my first attempt I couldn't figure out how my teacher drew her example. I looked for a long time at how she made it but I just couldn't figure it out so I messed around during my first attempt. My second attempt was a little different after having my teacher explain it to me the second time it started to realize where I was going wrong an what I needed to do to portion the image out a bit better. I still need to work on my side walk but hopefully I will come back to this  project and make something a little more advanced.

fun with acrylic paints in class!
